Attorney Joseph J. Ashton has a wide range of experience which allows the Ashton Firm, LLC, to provide services in personal injury law, real estate law, and estate planning.

Prior to forming The Ashton Firm, LLC, Mr. Ashton spent years practicing law at two of the most well-known and well-respected law firms in the region.  During that time, Mr. Ashton represented injured people throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and successfully recovered millions of dollars for injured clients at jury trials, arbitrations, and through aggressively negotiated settlements.  His experience includes a wide range of personal injury matters, including complex litigation and catastrophic injuries, motor vehicle accidents, dram shop cases, medical malpractice, and product liability claims.

As either lead attorney or second chair trial counsel, Mr. Ashton has successfully tried cases and recovered verdicts in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, at both jury trials and arbitrations.  A recent victory was featured in the publication Verdict Search’s list of the Top Pennsylvania Verdicts of 2013.  For his efforts, Mr. Ashton has been nominated by his peers and chosen for inclusion in the 2014 and 2015 editions of the Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Rising Stars lists.

While attending the Temple University Beasley School of Law, Mr. Ashton gained experience and insight in both the state and federal court systems while working as a Judicial intern, first for Magistrate Judge M. Faith Angell, in the U. S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and later for the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas’ Complex Litigation Center.

During law school, Mr. Ashton was chosen to be a member of Temple’s award-winning National Trial Team. Mr. Ashton received several awards at Temple Law School, including the Victor A. Jaczun Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy, awarded to graduates who have demonstrated excellence in trial advocacy; the Barrister’s Award for Outstanding Trial Advocacy, awarded for the best overall performance in trial advocacy class; an award for distinguished classroom performance in Temple Law’s Integrated Trial Advocacy Program; and, multiple places on the Dean’s List.

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Ashton represented buyers and sellers of residential real estate for over ten years as a Realtor in Philadelphia.  Mr. Ashton worked diligently to identify his clients’ needs, to set specific goals, and to work quickly and efficiently to achieve those goals. While attending the Temple University Beasley School of Law, Mr. Ashton was chosen to receive the Reuben E. Cohen Memorial Award for Zoning and Land Development Law, awarded to the graduate who has the highest academic achievement in the area of law related to zoning and land development.

Mr. Ashton is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the State of New Jersey, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.  He is an active member of various professional organizations including the Pennsylvania Association for Justice, the American Association for Justice, and the Pennsylvania Bar Association. In addition to his law practice, Mr. Ashton also serves as a Certified Arbitrator for the Philadelphia Compulsory Arbitration Program.
